Vintage darning egg, darning mushroom

Here we have a little Pic-quic darning egg

This tool is used on fabric with a knitted or looped texture. The "ladder" that can occur in stockings or knitted fabric is placed over the groove in the egg. A latch hook is used to pick up the lowest loop and then to hook up the dropped stitches until the surface is repaired. The latch on the hook helps to stop stitches slipping off the hook end.

Made in Germany between 1891 - 1952
